Our Solvang elders were on their way North on highway 101 to Santa Maria, just north of Buellton, when a car coming from the opposite direction, heading South, crossed the highway median, flipped around and slammed into them totally out of the blue. This happens to be one place on the freeway where the median is just a grassy slope. Usually it is filled with barricades and bushes of flowers. Miraculously no one was hurt, just the cars. The elders arrived just a little late to zone conference and were held in awe by everyone for the rest of the day.
Here are some photos of the damage. It is probable that the car will be totaled due to the high cost of repair. The insurance companies are still negotiating.
I was so surprised that it didn't look worse.
