17th Goings

We needed to say farewell to many faithful, dedicated missionaries this transfer. Included herein are the first Elders that we welcomed to the mission and the last ones who served under the previous president.

17th Comings

We had our smallest group of incoming missionaries so far, but they are delightful and we enjoyed the calmness of receiving only two.

Yep, we live in California - Movieland

We came home one day from walking and found our street lined with little signs. We were surprised to see that they were going to be filming in our neighborhood. President Murri saw a few new looking garbage cans down the street, but I never saw anything up on our corner. We were glad that it wasn't transfer day! Please let us know if you ever see our street in a movie.

My little blooms

I had a violet attack while we were in Bakersfield. These cute little blooms, of such varied colors, just begged me to bring them home with me, so I did. Here they are enjoying the sunlight in Bakersfield. They are now home in Ventura keeping my big blooming violet company.

Once Upon A Mission

Early on the morning of April 24, our missionaries were anxiously awaiting the arrival of some special visitors. Every missionary in the California Ventura Mission was invited to this special Saturday morning mission meeting.
We have never had this opportunity before.
This is how they reserve their seats. They needed to reserve their seats because we asked them to
congregate in the recreation hall for a once in a mission photo
of all our missionaries together.
Here they are congregating.
Here are the 200+ missionaries, including our seniors,
the mission presidency, and our visitors.
I did not think that my camera could hold that much!

Here is a close up of our visitors who we were able to spend some
one on one time with later in the day.
Elder Lynn G. Robbins, President and Sister Murri, Elder David A. Bednar

We had a marvelous time with Elder Bednar and Elder Robbins.
They spent three wonderful hours with our missionaries, uplifting and strengthening them.
We were able to have lunch with them. It was amazing.
President Murri spent the afternon with them as they held a
Priesthood Leadership Meeting with all the stake presidents
and bishops in the mission area.
We were able to have dinner with them.
We were able to attend a special young single adult meeting with them in the evening. It was a marvelous opportunity to hear their counsel to these delightful young people.
Sunday morning we were able to attend a special stake meeting at the Simi Valley Stake with Elder Bednar and the Los Angeles Temple President and Matron, President and Sister Brimhall. This stake had not had an apostle visit for over 20 years. Elder Bednar gave a marvelous talk to the investigators and members about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I felt totally enriched.

Springtime visit

Aebleskivers were the object of our adventures to Solvang in April when my sweet angel, Lisa, came to visit with two of her friends. She wanted to see how the restaurant variety compared to our traditional home recipe. She and I agree that home made ones taste best. But don't these look yummy! Here I am with Lisa. We had a great time shopping the shops of Solvang, especially the toy store and the spinning, knitting, and weaving store which was finally open while I was there.
